FORMLABS 3D Printing, the latest innovation for unlimited design
3D Printer

As grad students at MIT, Formlabs founders noticed a huge gap in the 3D printer market, it was just not accessible enough. In September 2011 they created Formlabs with the vision to bring desktop-sized, easy-to-use, and affordable stereolithography 3D printers to the masses. Officially unveiling their Form 1 printer prototype to the world in 2012 on Kickstarter, their goal was to raise $100,000. Not only did they shatter their fundraising goal, but Formlabs became the highest-funded tech campaign in Kickstarter history at the time, raising  $2,945,885 in just a matter of months.

Since then Formlabs has been on a mission to expand access to digital fabrication, so anyone can make anything. With its line of stereolithography (SLA) and selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printers, Formlabs has set, and repeatedly improved, the standard for affordable, professional-grade 3D printing and is the number one seller of professional-grade 3D printers worldwide. To date, Formlabs users have printed more than 85 million parts, including tens of millions of nasopharyngeal swabs used on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year has seen Formlabs launch the world’s first benchtop industrial selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printer, the Fuse 1. The Fuse 1 improves on the unique advantages offered by SLS printers, while bringing it within reach for companies of all sizes and types through unprecedented affordability and ease of use.

New Innovation with easy to access for all industries

Adopting Formlabs’ versatile printers and printing materials would be advantageous for users in a broad range of industries across the AEC Zone. Healthcare, dental, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace and defense, engineering, education, jewelry, audio industries to name a few could all benefit from increased speed of innovation and reduced production costs. Mr. Monty Wong has conclude with confidence that ”With scalable hardware, world-class materials development Formlabs machines enable users to take control of the full product development cycle and manufacturing process. From iterating on your first concept design to manufacturing ready-to-use products in production-ready nylon. Engineers, product designers, and manufacturers in particular choose the Fuse 1 SLS printer for the design freedom, high productivity and throughput, low cost per part, and proven track record. Keeping production in house drastically reduces the amount time and money spent when outsourcing projects or production to third parties.”
