HxGN LOCAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2019 by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence was graciously opened on 20-21 March 2019 at Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport with more than 500 Thai and foreign participants. The activities inside the exhibition consisted of 15 technical seminar topics each day. There were also the exhibition shows and technology demonstrations by Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. At the end of the activities on both days, the participants attended the Networking party, had dinner together, and enjoyed watching an Exclusive Concert from Patravee Srisuntisuk or Earth in a warm and impressive atmosphere.
Taveesak Srisuntisuk, Managing Director of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence in Southeast Asia and the person behind the success of the exhibition, said that the exhibition was an important integration of both customers and dealers in order to experience the technology and innovations of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence on display. The participants obtained knowledge and experience from the seminar, exhibition, and demonstrations of the new technology.

Taveesak further talked about the Key Success of this exhibition: “The success that will occur is Team Work from the cooperation of all sectors of Hexagon in the country, region, and world. It starts from coordinating the proactive energy of the Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence team within a short period of time and the support from the personnel in the exhibition and speakers both in the region and across the globe. Each person is willing to assist according to their duty and knowledge.”
“We intend to give as much value as possible to the participants. The seminar on solutions and work measurement, and various exhibited products were carefully planned. It is also pleasant that the first exhibition received such excellent feedback,” Taweesak concluded.
SMART SESSION
The seminar topics were under the concept of updates on global industry trends and the latest technology and innovations of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. Each speaker had direct expertise and came together to give the lectures.
In order to answer questions, be helpful, and cover the interest of the participants as much as possible, the seminar topics were divided into 3 major sessions, which consisted of Manufacturing Process, Industry Focused Applications, and Software Learning. The participants could rotate and attend a seminar according to the topics they were interested in.

Session: Manufacturing Process in the topic of Smart 3D Measurement Data Management for Quality Assurance by Siegfried Heinz – Commercial Support Manager; the topic of Smart Factory by Luka Gorlato – Technical Business Development and Project Manager; and the topic of Innovation in White Light Scanning Technology by Johnathan Kwon – AICON Product Line Manager.
Session: Industry Focused Applications consisted of the seminar regarding Process Control on the Shop Floor CMM by Anna Maria Izzi – Business Unit Director Bridge and Shop-Floor CMMs; the seminar topic regarding Non-Contact Large Volume Measuring by Thomas Schmid – APAC Regional Product Line Manager Tracker; and Digitization and Automation in Remanufacturing including 7 DoF Machine Control by Nik Suter – Business & Development Director Product Line Tracker.
Session: Software Learning consisted of PC-DMIS Update Class regarding Tips and Tricks for “Sheet Metal Application” and Unique Report Customization by Danny Cuypers – Product Owner, Service & Application and New Portable Software Inspire from Spatial Analyzer by Terrence Lim – Business Development – SA Special APAC from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.
Product Expo and Demonstrations
In the exhibition about technology and innovation, there were complete exhibitions on machinery and Manufacturing Solution from Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, where the participants received direct experience from the specialists who provided close supervision.
At the event, there was the introduction of Laser Tracker, the latest product, shown for the first time in Thailand, which was ATS600 Laser Tracker. It is unique for its capability of measuring workpieces by direct scanning, which is shooting a laser on the surface of the workpiece. It can take measurements as far as 6 meters away, suitable for large structure industries. For example: Shipyard industry, hanger industry, train garage industry, or construction works.
Moreover, there was an exhibition on machinery that is High-end Technology at this time, which was AICON STEREOSCAN NEO. It performs surface scanning to compare with CAD File. If it is inconsistent with the prototype, the point that needs to be corrected will be shown. When it is corrected, it can be scanned for comparison again in order to produce the workpiece that meets the demand. One of the remarkable features of AICON STEREOSCAN NEO is that it is removable so that the object can be inspected from all sides. It is suitable for Sheet Metal, forming pump, and large molds.
Keynotes and Guest Speech
In this exhibition, Stephen Graham – Vice President Marketing & Communication, Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, gave a speech on the opening ceremony. An important point he mentioned was that, important factors that make an organization a Smart Factory consist of Digital First and Data Driver: Use of digital system and information to drive production; Infinitely Connected: Endless connection; and Innately Intelligent: Smart system.
Moreover, Stephen mentioned that Xalt, a new platform, played an important role in becoming a Smart Factory. Xalt consists of the capability in terms of Al and Machine Learning in order to understand the information, which is very important for future technology. Also, Xalt has the capability in terms of Visualization and Mobility.
Nichapa Yoswee, President-Business of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Guest Speaker, spoke about one of Thailand’s economic development strategy, Thailand 4.0 initiated by the government. The objective is to support all 10-target industries by using the strategy to attract business and investment in these 10 industry groups. The Thai government has invested in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) with various incentive measures to support the investment opportunities that will occur from all sides.
Nichapa further said that in order to be in accordance with such policy, TCEB has determined the direction for the marketing strategy of MICE by creating MICE work through Thailand 4.0 in the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Project.
