The influx of cheaper foreign industrial products, especially electric cars, has inevitably affected the Thai manufacturing sector. The metalworking sector is the first to face these negative effects.

Amid all this, Pressure Tooling Service Co., Ltd. (PTSC), a leading importer and distributor of metal cutting tools, probes, and measuring instruments, is aware of boosting the potential of the Thai manufacturing sector. Therefore, PTSC has recently collaborated with Renishaw Thailand and Hexagon Metrology (Thailand) to organize an Open House seminar and exhibition at the Nimitkul Building, Rama 9 Road, to build confidence in the company’s potential and services. The event provided updates on new products and technologies for customers, along with special activities.

Mr. Rangsiman Sompornnimitkul, Managing Director of Pressure Tooling Service Co., Ltd., welcomed the attendees, including business partners, customers, and interested people. The event’s highlight was the introduction of two exciting products: the new RMI-QE interface and probes from Renishaw and the GLORY CMMs from Hexagon.

New RMI-QE interface and 3rd Generation Radio Transmission Probes

Renishaw has launched a new radio transmission monitoring system designed and manufactured to help metal-cutting applications in various industries to improve their productivity.

The system consists of the new RMI-QE interface and 3rd generation radio transmission probes (QE Series). The future-proofed RMI-QE is an ultra-compact radio interface featuring a new transmission protocol to support Renishaw’s new range of sensors and intelligent devices.

The RMI-QE uses Renishaw’s proven 2.4 GHz frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) radio transmission technology and complies with radio regulations worldwide. It is ideal for applications where line of sight between the probe and receiver is not guaranteed, such as 5-axis machine operations, multi-tasking milling machines and turning centers. This system allows up to four probe heads for tool setting and spindle setting on the same CNC machine, making it ideal for milling machines with rotary tables or twin pallets.

The RMI-QE has the same functionality as the RMI-Q but is much smaller. This allows for greater installation flexibility and full backward compatibility to reduce the hassle of changing from the old version of the RMI-Q interface. The new system increases battery life by up to 400%, providing a battery life of up to 5 years for typical use, reducing environmental impact by extending the shelf life of associated consumables.

In addition, the new system provides innovative manufacturing features, enabling automatic on-machine tool setting, tool breakage detection, workpiece set-up and inspection, and higher reliability. Integrating these control methods into the manufacturing process gives manufacturers the data they need to significantly improve productivity, machine utilization and reduce dependency on workers.

The GLORY Bridge Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)

The GLORY bridge coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is a new generation of versatile measuring machines built on Hexagon’s advanced technology and innovation, user research and close customer collaboration. With a flexible design platform, the machine can be customized to meet the requirements of users at a cost-effective price. GLORY CMM is also designed to meet the needs of modern manufacturing with complete intelligent manufacturing solutions.

The GLORY’s design is a further development based on the GLOBAL model that is successful in the market. The TRICISION™ triangular structure makes the machine 25% stronger and features a 50% lower center of gravity than other CMMs in the market. The stable granite work table with a low center of gravity, the dovetail guide system, and air bearings are preloaded on all axes.

The GLORY CMM comes with a range of tactile and non-contact sensors, allowing users to choose the best solution for their application. The single-point touch-trigger probe is easy to use, durable, and cost-effective. The tactile scanning probe provides the flexibility to scan various surfaces at high speed, capturing hundreds of points per second for accurate and reliable measurement. Non-contact measurements, such as laser scanning sensors and cameras, enable efficient inspection of fragile, complex, and free-form parts.

The new GLORY CMM is compact, space-saving, and can be adjusted to fit the site without sacrificing measurement flexibility. It is also easy to use. With Q-DAS measurement analysis software, the QC personnel can easily make SPC charts while the beacons allow the user to control remotely.

GLORY CMMs are suitable for a wide range of applications and workpiece sizes and shapes, including geometrical shapes, inclined surfaces, measurements of inside and outside diameters, and distances between these diameters, 3D position measurements of complex geometric shapes, and as a master instrument in gage calibration.
