Recently, Informa (Thailand) Co, Ltd. has announced their plan of organizing MiRA & SUBCON EEC event, highlighting the eastern industrial technologies, encompassing areas such as maintenance of automated and robotic systems, as well as subcontracting industries. This event is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 September 2023 at Nongnooch Pattaya International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, the Secretary General of Thailand Board of Investment, highlighted that the Office of the Board of Investment (BOI), in partnership with Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association (Subcon) and Informa Markets, the renowned organizer of the product showcasing event on an international scale, has successfully collaborated to organize the MIRA (maintenance, industrial robotics and automation) and SUBCON EEC 2023 event. This builds upon the achievements of the previous year, marking its second year. The event will feature at least 150 companies showcasing their products and more than 100 prominent buyers. Facilitating business negotiations up to 600 pairs will be anticipated to generate a business connection value exceeding 2 billion baht, with an estimation of over 5,000 participants. This event will provide more opportunities for the operators in Thailand to establish connections with renowned international companies, encompassing various aspects such as manufacturing, technology transfer, domestic parts procurement, and fostering Thai-foreign joint venture, which is anticipated to strengthen the supply chain of the targeted industries.

Mr. Kiattisak Jirakajonvong, the President of Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association, emphasized the readiness of the association to serve as a crucial platform for connecting Thai entrepreneurs to the global trade hub through significant regional-level platforms, aiming to create new trade opportunities for over 400 members of the association. This is a part of Subcon Thailand event, where it has been held consistently for over 17 years, along with the expansion of Subcon EEC event that was first organized in the previous years. The event received positive responses as over 90% of the members participated in the exhibition. This significant engagement reflects a high level of confidence in conducting business with Thai suppliers and partners. The association is confident that the organization of SUBCON EEC 2023 event will be another paramount key in building new opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, as well as being well-prepared to adapt to any industrial changes.

Mr. Wuttichai Visarnkuna, the Deputy Director for Industrial Services / Robotics Engineering Manager of the Institute of Field Robotics at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, shared that the technological innovations by Thai individuals will significantly propel the progress of domestic industries. The project started since 2017, where it encompassed several types of robots, including Service Robot that had the ability to respond and effectively apply software solutions. For instance, during 2019 – 2020, the institution developed robots that provided medical assistance amid the COVID-19 crisis, including delivering medications to COVID-19 patients to minimize the physical contact between medical staff and individuals in their care. In addition to Service Robots, there was also chess-playing AI robots and virtual aquarium robots. In the upcoming MiRA & SUBCON EEC event, the Institute of Field Robotics will be showcasing these 4 robots, offering participants the opportunity to engage in hands-on testing and experimentation.

Mr. Sanchai Noombunnam, the General Manager of Informa Markets Thailand, said that due to the collaboration with BOI, including the positive support received from various network partners, such as Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association, Informa is able to recognize the potential to expand the organization of SUBCON Thailand beyond the Bangkok region, tapping into crucial economic zones like the EEC. This has facilitated the successful hosting of the MiRA and SUBCON EEC event in the previous years, offering local entrepreneurs the opportunities to connect with major manufacturers with high investment potential. Additionally, the event enables presentation of novel technologies and industry-aligned innovations from renowned manufacturers to foster knowledge exchange across various sectors, such as electronic vehicles (EV), electrical appliances, electronics, mechanics, and future industries, covering the maintenance of airplanes, medical devices, robots, and automatic systems. The previous event has received significant recognition and support, and with this successful track record, Informa is ready to carry on with the organization of the event for its second consecutive year.
